Automated Storage & Material Flow Concept for UMS
LUKK Automation completed a Proof of Concept (POC) for an automated storage and material flow system for UMS Semiconductor Pte Ltd, Singapore.
The POC presents an integrated warehouse automation concept combining Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Carton Transfer Units (CTUs), smart racking, Pick-to-Light workstations, and warehouse software to support automated material movement and storage operations.
Intelligent Material Movement
The POC covers automated movement of both totes and pallets using different robotic platforms for material handling, including tote-handling AMRs, pallet-handling mobile robots, and Carton Transfer Units.
Automated Storage
The proposed system includes multi-level storage for totes and pallets, with a flexible configuration designed to adapt to changing storage requirements.
The concept provides 7,200 tote storage locations and 102 pallet locations, with the potential to increase tote capacity through configuration changes.
Integrated Warehouse Software
The POC includes an integrated software architecture connecting WMS, WCS and RCS with the UMS business system.
The architecture is designed to coordinate inventory management, warehouse tasks, robot movements and material-flow operations through a connected platform.
Pick-to-Light & Workstations
The proposed workstations connect warehouse operators, robots and warehouse software.
Pick-to-Light devices and barcode scanning support guided picking and material verification, while warehouse software manages order and inventory updates.
Project Outcome
Through the completed POC, LUKK Automation demonstrated an integrated warehouse automation concept for UMS, bringing together robotics, warehouse software and material-flow technologies to support automated storage, picking and material movement.
The concept is designed to provide connected warehouse operations, improved material traceability and reduced manual movement.
